This is how a dog can treat homesickness

Homesickness is a painful experience. It makes us long for something we have lost. But a dog can help us treat homesickness.

When you feel homesick, according to Freud, you feel as if a part of yourself has left you. This feeling can go downhill all the way down to the stage of depression

Therefore, it is a good idea to know how to control it and learn a few strategies.

Popular culture has taught us that the best thing to do when you lose someone is to look for something or someone to give your love to.

But there are other, easier ways to handle the situation than replacing one love for another.

One is to have a pet or spend regular time with a loving animal. Usually people choose a dog – After all, they are loyal and loving.

Now it turns out that this theory is actually founded in science. A team of researchers at the University of British Columbia has proven it in this study.

In this study , students who had to move to go to college got better over the separation when they had a dog to help them with the homecoming.

The direct result of this was better academic performance.

Therefore, homesickness hurts

Homesickness keeps you looking back on the past. The past is where the person you miss is and it’s the place you long to go back to.

Therefore, things that happen in the present seem boring in relation to your idealized memories. And the future just seems like a confusing place far out in the distance.

Somehow you are still living in the “past”, you long to make today and tomorrow insignificant.

So when your homesickness becomes a state you are in, instead of a place you visit from time to time, you forget your goals.

It keeps you from the special benefits that each phase of life offers. It’s not that you’re throwing them away; you just can not see them. Therefore, it is very important to treat homesickness so that you can move on in your life.

In that sense, you are not giving your work or your school the attention it deserves, you are not thinking about what you really want, you are not experiencing this new journey with the passion you were hoping for when you started it.

That is why it is so important that more studies are conducted in this area, especially for young adults.

Animal-assisted therapy helps with the transition from high school to university – and may be able to treat homesickness

The researchers compiled information from 44 universities. They selected first-year students who indicated that they were homesick and asked them to fill out a questionnaire to measure their homesickness as well as their involvement in campus life.

They then selected a group to perform animal-assisted therapy. The other group would wait for it to be their turn for eight weeks.

The students who received the therapy were given 45 minutes each week along with small groups of dogs to combat homesickness. After the eight weeks, students completed the same questionnaire from the beginning of the study once more.

The results were great: Those in the first group reported much less homesickness and better mood.

As for the students who did not receive the therapy, their mood worsened.

The history of individual students was positively impacted, but it can also make a difference in your history.
